Y
ours Ours Mine provides many support services and activities for youth and their families. These services play an important role in the positive developmental growth of children and adolescents. Programs offered through Family Life/Youth Development are designed to increase the awareness of available resources within the community that may assist in strengthening the family structure. The programs goals are to empower the participants and to have them demonstrate growth in life skills, such as socialization, decision making, and coping skills while gaining an improved sense of self-worth and confidence.

Youth Employability
This service is designed to assist youth in the community in securing safe, afterschool employment. Job Readiness skills, resume preparedness and interview techniques are developed through a series of available workshops. Through Yours Ours Mines Rent-a-Kid program many youth between the ages of 12 and 16 are given the opportunity to secure part-time employment while working in their community. Special consideration is given to the youth ages 13 to 15. Intergenerational connections with our senior population continue to grow. A Job Bank assists individuals ages 16 to senior citizens with possible employment opportunities with local businesses.

Tutorial/Educational Enrichment Services
Individual and group assistance to students from Kindergarten through 12th grade that require educational enrichment or remedial help in their academic subjects is provided. The tutorial services are coordinated with the classroom teacher and assignments being taught in the classroom. Adult volunteers and students from area high schools and colleges are the key to this programs success.

Youth Guidance Project
Counselors outreach to middle/high school youth in an effort to provide crisis intervention, prevention services, individual/group informal counseling, referrals as well as court advocacy if needed. The program is designed to reduce the number of youth entering the juvenile justice system and the recidivist rate of those presently involved with the system.

Individual, Family and Group Counseling
Therapists, Counselors and Community Service Aides work with youth and their families to explore their feelings and clarify goals and values as a means towards gaining personal growth and understanding. A better understanding of self and others is developed through individual, family and group counseling services that are provided to the family in an effort to develop healthier relationships. Treatment plans engage participants in heightening their self-esteem, self-worth and dignity, as well as increase their abilities to negotiate systems, i.e. criminal justice, employment and health more effectively.

Banana Splits
This is a support group for children who have experienced separation/divorce in their family. The program includes the use of a variety of activities: (i.e.: stories, pictures, role-play, videos, etc.) The use of these activities assists the therapist in teaching the participants better coping skills and the ability to share their feelings openly.

Socialization Group
A discussion group designed to teach and reinforce appropriate ways of interacting with others. Some focus is placed on self-esteem and the development of a positive self-image. Participants explore how their strengths and weaknesses may effect their peer relations.

Bereavement Group
A support group for children who have lost a parent or a loved one. The emphasis is placed on understanding the different stages of grief and gaining support from others who understand.

12,473 Children served within Family Life Youth Development since 1988
