17,500 affordable homes for returning veterans
to our country. In 1964, the organization

superintendents of the Levittown and Island
Trees School Districts.
In 1964, YOM was known as the Service
Agency for Youth. In 1968 it became
the Youth Direction Council of Levittown
and Island Trees, Inc. The agency’s
counseling program services began at
its offices at 3161 Hempstead Turnpike
in Levittown.
In 1968 the Youth Direction Counsel and
the Center Lane Village Green YOM Committee
merged to form the YOM Counseling and
Youth Center Program, located at the
Center Lane Village Green. The program
was to be modeled after the Henry Street
Settlement House Concept in New York

was crafted. It was to be designed
as a multi human service agency to
provide human services to children
and families 3 years to 60 years of
age and older.
In 1979 the organization created a holding
corporation, for the purpose of purchasing
the land and facility, which housed
the programs. A full time professional
staff was assembled.
In 1984 the organization’s name
was changed to the Yours Ours Mine
Community Center, Inc.
Today, the organization is still operated
by a volunteer Board of Trustees, which is the policy-making body
and a President & CEO who manages the day to day operations
of the organizations 2.1 million-dollar budget.
