As Levittown moves towards the new millenium, the Yours Ours Mine
Community Center has become an integrate part of this community.
Having been established in 1964, the Center was located in a store-front
on Center Lane. The agency has continually sought to meet the various
and diverse human service needs of the community and helped to improve
the quality of life. Those needs, like Yours Ours Mine itself, have
continued to change and grow dramatically over the years.
As you browse through this website, you will see the variety of
programs and services offered by the agency to date. Originally
serving primarily the youth of the community, Yours Ours Mine now
offers an extensive array of human services for the entire family
from pre-school age to the golden years.
Many working parents and their children benefit from the Nursery
Day Care, Universal Pre-Kindergarten, Before and After School Child
Care and the Beginning Teens Project that is offered. Hundreds
of senior citizens are provided with a daily
nutritious lunch and on some Saturdays with a special
event, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a variety of
socialization activities. Additionally, there is
individual and group counseling for chemical dependency abusers
available to all family members. Rounding out the Community
Center's menu of services are those focused on Youth Development,
which includes a wide variety of educational, crisis intervention,
non-chemical dependency related individual, family and group counseling
and leisure time activities designed to teach and empower adolescents
to develop decision making skills.
As Yours Ours Mine continues to meet the needs of the community,
an active working partnership with community members remains a key
ingredient to the Community Center's success as we move forward
within the twenty-first century. You can support the Community Center
in many ways:
(1) by having your employer to make in-kind contributions and
grants to the Community Center,
(2) by supporting fund raising events,
(3) by inclusion of YOM in your personal planned giving or a bequest
and
(4) by becoming a member of the Friends of YOM
organization.
We, as the Board of Trustees, invite you to join with us, as we
continue to meet the challenges of providing direct and human services
to the citizens of Levittown and surrounding communities.
