Since 1964, the Yours Ours Mine Community
Center, Inc. (YOM), has provided direct
and support human services for Levittown
and surrounding communities. Over the
years, the agency's services have grown
from a Youth Center Leisure Time Activities
Concept Project to a multi-service,
whole life community center model.
The YOM Community Center served over
7,000 individuals last year and operates
on an approximately 1.9 million budget.
There is a possibility, more than likely,
either yourself or someone you know
has utilized the agency for one of
its services. The fact that the community
population continues to change and
grow, is evident that the agency's
services are clearly needed. In the
year 2000, County funding reductions
(cuts) have shown the community all
of YOM's vital services could be taken
away at any time. Consequently, we
must address this issue in order for
YOM to maintain the quality services
community residents have come to know
and expect. We need your support.
The Board of Directors and myself are
reaching out to ask for your support
by becoming a member of YOM and participating
in one of YOM's first major fundraising
efforts. We propose to erect the communities
first Courtyard and Sensory Garden
Project. A beautiful garden that the
entire community can be proud of.
Your contribution to YOM's community Courtyard
Project will provide, in addition to
your membership, an opportunity for
you to take part in one of the most
community-minded, collaborative efforts
in which this community has ever been
involved. There are opportunities for
every resident, organization, house
of worship, business and every section
of the community to have their name
live on for years to come, as a permanent
part of the Levittown community's history.
Consider this an investment in your
future. Please read the enclosed
materials, complete the contribution/membership
form and return it to the:
Courtyard Project, YOM Community Center
152 Center Lane
Levittown, NY 11756.
In-kind opportunities are available.
For more information, please
call 516-796-6633 ext. 266.
Financial support is critically important,
but we need your time and your talents
as well. Board meetings are held on
the third Tuesday of each month at
the YOM Community Center, 152 Center
Lane, Levittown at 7:15p.m. We urge
you, once you have become a member,
to attend our meetings and to take
an active part in planning agency fundraising
events, and all activities that encourage
the program participants and benefit
the Levittown community.
The community has relied on YOM to support
its needs for thirty-seven years. We
are relying on you to help us continue
the important mission we have in this
community. Please do not wait. YOM
needs you now.
Sincerely,
James A. Edmondson
Chief Executive Officer
