In 2003, the President & CEO in
partnership with the Board of Trustees and the Friends of YOM organization
has launched a new fundraising initiative “Endowment Contributions.”
The organization is reaching out and requesting past program participants
and families dating back to January 1, 1968, contributors, donors
and Foundations to contribute $25 to $100, $250 plus, which is tax
deductible per year, which will be placed in a restricted endowment
fund that will help to guarantee that YOM’s vital services
will be continued to be offered to children and families for generations
to come. In the second year, the Board of Trustees will withdraw
only the interest to help offset program expenses within the Child
Care, Senior Nutrition, and (recreation) Leisure Time programs.
The Yours Ours Mine Community Center, Inc.’s President
& CEO, Board of Trustees, staff and the Friends of YOM are increasing
their special fundraising event efforts to help the organization
reduce the drastic funding cuts from Nassau County and possibly
New York State governments, which became greater this fiscal year
January 1, 2003 and the Board of Trustees and I anticipate further
funding reductions will continue for the next two to five years.
